Insulation

Keep the Warmth Where It Belongs.

Quality insulation helps your home retain more of the heat you pay for, making it warmer, more comfortable and more energy efficient. From lofts and walls to floors, we’ll recommend the right insulation for your property.

Why Insulation?

The Cheapest Unit of Heat Is the One You Never Lose.

Insulation is the least glamorous thing we install and usually the first thing we recommend. It costs less than any other measure, it works every hour of every winter, and it makes everything you install afterwards smaller, cheaper and more effective.

Lower Heating Bills

Heat that stays in the house is heat you do not have to pay to make twice.

Reduce Heat Loss

Walls, lofts and floors are where your heating quietly leaves the building. Insulation closes the door on it.

A Warmer Home

Rooms reach temperature faster and hold it for longer once the fabric of the house stops working against you.

Better Comfort

No cold walls, no draughty floors, no room that never quite warms up whatever you do with the thermostat.

Improve Energy Efficiency

A better-insulated home needs less energy to do the same job, whatever you are heating it with.

Prepare for Future Upgrades

Insulate first and a heat pump can be smaller and cheaper. Skip it, and you pay to heat the same lost heat with a bigger machine.

Where Heat Escapes

Your Heating Is Leaving the Building.

In an uninsulated home, heat escapes through every surface at once. Select a part of the house to see where it goes and what can be done about it.

35%

Walls

The single biggest loss in most homes. Around a third of the heat in an uninsulated house goes straight out through the walls, which is why wall insulation usually does the most work.

Indicative figures for a typical uninsulated home. Every property is different, which is why the only number that matters is the one we work out at your survey.

Our Insulation Solutions

Five Measures. One Survey.

Which of these your home needs depends on how it was built and what has been done to it already. Here is what each one is, and who it is for.

01

Cavity Wall Insulation

What is it?

Most homes built from the 1930s onwards have two skins of masonry with a gap between them. Cavity wall insulation fills that gap with an insulating material, so the wall stops acting as a chimney for your heating.

Who is it for?

Homes built roughly between 1930 and 1995 with an unfilled cavity. We check the wall construction and the state of the cavity before recommending it.

  • Usually the best value wall measure
  • Installed from outside, minimal disruption
  • Typically completed in a day

Which Type of Insulation?

We’ll Help You Find the Right One.

Every home is different. We’ll assess your property, identify where it’s losing heat and recommend the insulation that will make the biggest difference.

That is why every recommendation starts with a home survey.

  • Age of the propertyWhen it was built tells us how the walls were likely constructed.
  • Construction typeCavity or solid, timber or masonry, suspended floor or concrete slab.
  • Existing insulationWhat is already there, how thick it is, and whether it is still doing its job.
  • Heat lossWhere the heat is actually going in your house, not in a diagram of an average one.
  • Your goalsWarmer rooms, lower bills, or preparing the house for a heat pump later.
Why Choose Arktek?

Done Once, Done Properly.

Badly fitted insulation does not just underperform. It can trap moisture and cause problems that cost more than the measure saved. It matters who does it.

TrustMark Registered

Arktek are TrustMark registered for insulation, the government-endorsed quality scheme for work carried out in the home.

Experienced Installers

Insulation is easy to do badly and invisible once it is finished. Ours is fitted by people who know what it should look like behind the wall.

Whole-Home Assessment

We look at the whole house, not just the measure you rang up about. Insulation changes what heating system you need, so the two decisions belong together.

Quality Materials

The right material for the wall in front of us, fitted to the manufacturer’s specification rather than to whatever is quickest.
